Yesterday, I pulled Sketch #36 from the archives. Today, I’m giving it a colorful makeover with the Shining Stars Dies and a sneak peek at Birthday Shoutout, a stamp set coming in the November 2026 Online Exclusives, available November 3!

Pretty Peacock, Lemon Lime Twist, and Calypso Coral Two-Tone Cardstock bring a playful pop of color to the stars. A crisp Basic White background keeps the look clean, while the bold birthday greeting takes center stage.

WHAT I LOVE!

  • Mix it up! Open and solid stars in different sizes add interest with just a few simple layers.
  • Little details, big impact. Horizontal lines on the Basic White panel add subtle texture.
  • Make it pop! A white-on-black greeting and a few coordinating embellishments finish the card with a birthday shoutout!

measure & cut (from bottom to top):

card base:

  • Basic White Thick Cardstock: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 (side)

layers (before die-cutting/punching):

  • Basic White Cardstock: 3 3/4 x 5
  • Pretty Peacock, Lemon-Lime Twist and Calypso Coral Two-Tone Cardstock: 5 x 3 (each)
  • Basic Black Two-Tone Cardstock: 3 x 1

stamp (clear blocks or stamp positioner):

  • Stamp the sentiment (Birthday Shoutout) in Versamark Ink onto the Basic Black Two-Tone Cardstock that has been rubbed with an Embossing Buddy. Cover with White Basic WOW! Embossing Powder. Set with a Heat Tool.

crop, cut, assemble, adhere (from bottom to top) & embellish:

  • Burnish the fold of the card base with a Bone Folder.
  • Use a Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score the Basic White layer every 1/2". Adhere to the card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Crop the stars from the Pretty Peacock, Lemon-Lime Twist and Calypso Coral Two-Tone Cardstock pieces with a Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard or Mini) the coordinating Shining Starts Dies (1/2" star, 1 1/4" stitched star and 1 1/4" & 2" nesting dies.
  • Adhere the nested star die-cuts with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and the others with Standard and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals as shown.
  • Trim the sentiment to size (approx. 2 3/8" x 3/8") and adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals (right) and Multipurpose Liquid Glue (left).
  • Embellish with Pretty Peacock Array of Dots.
