NEW TUTORIAL: Wish BIG! A Star-Studded Birthday Card + Sneak Peek

Yesterday’s sketch is today’s birthday inspiration! Layered stars, pretty pink patterned paper, and a bold WISH BIG sentiment come together for a card that’s ready to celebrate.

The Shining Stars Dies steal the show—and you can get them for just $5 with a qualifying $75 product purchase! The sentiment offers a SNEAK PEEK at the upcoming Candle Party Stamp Set, part of the Candle Party Bundle available November 3.

WHAT I LOVE! Nesting the stars creates an eye-catching focal point with very little fuss. A simple white twine bow softens the layers, while plenty of Basic White keeps the design clean and fresh.

measure & cut (from bottom to top):

card base:

  • Basic White Thick Cardstock: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 (side)

layers (before die-cutting/punching):

  • Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper: 1 1/2 x 5 1/2
  • Early Espresso Cardstock: 6 x 3 1/2 (5 stars)
  • Barely Blush Cardstock: 3 1/2 x 4 (2 stars)
  • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock: 3 x 2 1/2 (1 star)

envelope flap:

  • Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper: 5 3/4 x 2 1/4

stamp (clear blocks or stamp positioner):

  • Stamp the sentiment & star (Candle Party) in Early Espresso Classic Ink onto the card base as shown, approx. 1/4" in from the bottom left corner.

crop, cut, assemble, adhere (from bottom to top) & embellish:

  • Burnish the fold of the card base with a Bone Folder.
  • Adhere the Designer Series Paper to the card as shown, approx. 1/4" in from the left side.
  • Use a Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard) to crop the following with the Shining Stars dies:
    • Early Espresso Cardstock: 3 3/4" star, 1 3/8" stitched star, 1/2" star x 3
    • Barely Blush Cardstock: 2" star layered inside 2 7/8" star, 5/8" star
    • Flirty Flamingo Cardstock: 2" stitched star
  • Adhere the Barely Blush and Early Espresso stars together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Adhere the Early Espresso and Flirty Flamingo stitched stars together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Adhere the small stars as shown with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Tie a bow of White Baker's Twine. Adhere as shown with a Mini Glue Dot.

envelope:

  • Adhere the 5 3/4 x 2 1/4 Designer Series Paper to a Basic White Medium envelope flap with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Tip: Add glue to the flap, not the Designer Series Paper.
