FREE Tutorial! One Die-cut = Two Card Ideas

Hello Reader,

Remember when I suggested you save the negative die-cut from Thursday's arched card tutorial (see below)? Today’s project is exactly why. That “leftover” piece becomes the star of this clean and graphic birthday card, adding instant interest, contrast, and texture with very little effort. It’s a perfect reminder that smart die-cutting gives you more than one card—and this design proves just how polished a second look can be.

measure & cut (from bottom to top):

card base:

  • Basic White Thick Cardstock: 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2

layers (before die-cutting):

  • Secret Sea Cardstock: 3 1/4 x 5 1/4
  • Boho Vibes Designer Series Paper: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4 1/4 x 4 1/2
  • Basic White Cardstock: 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 (greenery, keep the negative space)
  • Secret Sea Cardstock: 3 x 3/4 (sentiment)

envelope flap:

  • Boho Vibes Designer Series Paper: 5 3/4 x 2 1/4

stamp (clear blocks or stamp positioning tool):

  • Stamp the sentiment (Lovely Arrangements Stamp Set) in Versamark Ink onto the piece of Secret Cardstock after is has been rubbed with an Embossing Buddy. Cover with white Basic's Wow Embossing Powder. Set with a Heat Tool.

crop, cut, assemble, adhere & embellish:

  • Burnish the fold of the card base with a Bone Folder.
  • Adhere the Secret Sea Cardstock to the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • Adhere the Boho Vibes Designer Series Paper to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Use a Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard) to crop the 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 Basic White Cardstock with the greenery die from the Nature's Symphony Dies. TIP: Crop it in the same direction as it appears on the card, with the stem end in the bottom right corner. Use the negative space on this card and save the greenery die-cut for the other.
  • Adhere the negative space die-cut to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Double wrap with white Baker's Twine Essentials, securing with a bow.
  • Crop the sentiment with the Three Banner Punch. Adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Embellish with three Secret Sea Natural Matte Dots (available March 3).

envelope:

  • Adhere the 5 3/4 x 2 1/4 Designer Series Paper to a Basic White Medium envelope flap with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Tip: Add glue to the flap, not the Designer Series Paper.
