FREE TUTORIAL! Bright Christmas Wishes with A Stitched Season

Hello Reader,

Yesterday’s exclusive card sketch comes to life with the charming A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper! I love how the quilt-inspired birds and trees create a cozy, homespun Christmas look without requiring lots of extra stamping or embellishing.

I cut 4 of the sweet bird designs directly from the patterned paper and arranged them according to the sketch. A Real Red card base, crisp Basic White layers, and the Real Red 1/4" Stitched Ribbon bring everything together beautifully.

The “Bright Christmas Wishes” sentiment is from the Pretty Poinsettia Stamp Set and was cropped with the Nested Essentials Dies. The stitched detail on the label coordinates perfectly with the ribbon and the quilted feel of the paper.

It is a festive card with plenty of detail—but the Designer Series Paper does most of the creative work!

measure & cut (from bottom to top):

card base:

  • Real Red Cardstock: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 (side)

layers (before punching):

  • Basic White Cardstock: 4 x 4 7/8
  • A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper: 3 7/8 x 4 3/4 (strategically cut around the 4 cardinal images)
  • A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper: 4 Cardinals (optional if you want dimension)
  • Basic White Cardstock: 4 x 1 1/2

envelope flap:

  • A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper: 5 3/4 x 2 1/4

stamp (clear blocks or stamp positioning tool):

  • Stamp the sentiment in Real Red Classic Ink onto the Basic White Cardstock.

cut, assemble, adhere & embellish:

  • Burnish the fold of the card base with a Bone Folder.
  • Layer and adhere the Designer Series Paper and Basic White together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • Wrap the center of the layer with Real Red Stitched Ribbon, securing with a bow.
  • Adhere to the card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Adhere the four cropped birds over the top of the same image on the Designer Series Paper layer with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Use a Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine (Standard) to crop the sentiment with the smallest Nested Essentials elongated hexagon label die. Adhere with double-stacked dimensionals.

envelope:

  • Adhere the 5 3/4 x 2 1/4 Designer Series Paper to a Basic White Medium envelope flap with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Tip: Add glue to the flap, not the Designer Series Paper.
